			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Enjoy some warmth with your next meal, courtesy of this favorite of the Molly Bea&#8217;s INGREDIENTS team: <span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Barbara&#8217;s 3-Grain Medley side dish</strong></span>.  As usual, our item numbers are listed below for ingredients, should you need to pick up any last-minute additions.</p>
<p>Preparation:  10 minutes<br />
Cooking time:  4-6 hours<br />
Yield:  8 servings</p>
<p><span style="color:#800000;"><strong>INGREDIENTS:</strong></span><br />
1 Tbs  chives – SM-129<br />
3 tsp chicken base  mixed with 3 cups water  – SP-02<br />
2/3 cup uncooked soft wheat berries – GR-19<br />
1/2 cup pearl barley – GR-37<br />
1/2 cup – wild rice – GR-09<br />
1/2 stick butter  &#8211; OR – 1/4 cup canola oil<br />
1/4 cup  dried parsley  flakes  – SM-83<br />
1/8 cup lemon peel granules – SM-64<br />
1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt – SM-03<br />
Dash fresh ground black peppercorns – SM-85<br />
OPTIONAL: 1/2 cup dried fruit:   dates, peaches, cranberries, figs, cherries or blueberries</p>
<p><span style="color:#800000;"><strong>DIRECTIONS:</strong></span><br />
1.  Combine the  chives, broth, garlic, wheat berries, wild rice &amp; butter in a 3-4 quart slow cooker /crock pot.<br />
2.  Cover &amp; cook at low setting until liquid is absorbed &amp; grains are tender.  This will take 4-6 hours.<br />
3.  Stir in parsley flakes, lemon peel granules, sea salt &amp; pepper to taste.<br />
4.  Serve warm.</p>

<p>Whether choosing a recipe or coming up with your own, you&#8217;ll want to be sure to select only high-quality ingredients.  This will ensure that you not only have a tasty snack, but that it also remains as healthy as possible &#8212; depending on the snack you&#8217;ve chosen.  We can&#8217;t help you find a way to make Twinkies healthy, but feel free to send us your ideas!  If they&#8217;re good, we might just share it in a future blog post.</p>
